Distances and driving times from the airport to the towns people actually stay in, with the AP-7 toll where it applies. August adds between half and double the normal time on the free road.

The AP-7 is the toll motorway that runs inland of the coast. It is almost never blocked and the fare to Marbella is around 6 €. The A-7 is free, hugs the coast, and passes through the roundabouts of five resort towns. In the second half of August the free road turns a forty-minute drive into an hour and a half.
Blue lines are metered, yellow lines mean no. Underground garages in Puerto Banús are tight overhead: the marina garage clears 2,10 m and Antonio Banderas 2,20 m, so a G-Class or a Cybertruck stays outside.
Marbella has no airport of its own and no train, and Uber does not operate there. It is 55 km from the terminal, which is why so many people drive.
